Rebecca joined the St Marks team in August 2018 in the role of Administrator/Receptionist.
She has a varied employment history with health/social services within communities nationwide.  Rebecca and her wealth of knowledge is a great asset to our organisation.  She works closely with our client group providing essential ongoing support which involves local community services.
Rebecca is an energetic, valuable member of our team and her passion for people and holistic view does much to enhance our Therapeutic Community.
Rebecca is pleased to be back home in Marlborough to support her family – in particular, her elderly parents – after many years away from the region.

peterPETER RIJHNEN– Manager

Peter and his partner arrived 8 years ago in NZ. Soon after his arrival he accepted a role as a (registered) AOD counsellor in a Drug Treatment Unit (DTU) in the Christchurch Men’s prison. His leadership and managerial skills were acknowledged by his management and he was promoted to the role of Clinical Manager in the Hawkes Bay Prison. This lead to a further promotion to National Programme Manager of 10 Prison based DTU’s. Although Peter was enjoying his new role, the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to manage a Residential Treatment Centre such as St Marks, was irresistible.

In the Netherlands Peter has been working in different roles for the Outward Bound School (OBS), as Instructor/Trainer and Manager. In these roles he worked in collaboration with the Dutch equivalent of Work and Income, CADS and large corporations. Furthermore, he worked as a Physical Education Tutor at a training institution. The different roles naturally evolved into his own Bureau for Management Training and Education. Peter still provides training and education for management of International businesses as time permits.

Peter’s passion is all about people and supporting them to become the best they can be. He supports individuals and teams, clients and colleagues, volunteers and staff with the same enthusiasm. He combines his knowledge, skills and focus to encourage others to connect and work together because he believes that working together gets the best result for all people involved.

ali staff profileALI CROSSMAN, Administrator/Personal Assistant

Ali has a diverse role within St Marks primarily as PA to the Manager. She handles all referral enquiries from first contact through to the client's entry into St Marks. Ali works closely with the Clinical Team and the referrers throughout this process. She is responsible for internal auditing of the clinical files and coordinates in-house training for staff. She cycles regularly and enjoys a game of golf most weekends.

Family is important to Ali and spending time with her adult children and small grandsons is always enjoyable.

gina staff profileGINA MITCHELL – Registered Nurse

Gina is a fully qualified Registered Nurse with several years experience in medical and surgical areas. She works Mon - Thursday at St Marks and is a valuable member of our team and has a wonderful rapport with the clients and staff. Gina continues to gain further qualifications and to build on her Professional Development. She works closely with our Medical Officer who holds regular weekly clinics at St Marks.

She is devoted to her family, loves a good book, gardening and is open to new learning.

kaylene staff profileKAYLENE TAHUHU – Addictions Counsellor

Kaylene has been working at St Marks since 2011 and during this time she has completed her Degree in Addiction Studies. She has completed several Te Reo courses. Kaylene is a competent young woman who is involved in all aspects of programme delivery, she delivers the cultural aspects of the programme and is the Whanau weekend co-ordinator which she is very passionate about. She has been living a recovery lifestyle since 2006 with her first recovery experience in the St Marks family and is grateful to the organisation for her employment. In her spare time Kaylene enjoys music, carving, gardening and the company of her dog.

paul staff profilePAUL HATHAWAY – Provisional Registered Practitioner

Paul is registered with DAPAANZ as a Provisional Registered Practitioner, Paul is qualified with a Bachelor of Addiction Studies. As a Senior Alcohol and Addictions Counsellor Paul facilitates recovery focussed groups and his primary passion is Relapse Prevention.

Paul has been living a recovery lifestyle since successfully completing the St Marks Programme in 2008 and is testament that the programme works. He is a keen gardener and a mad cook and a lover of music especially the blues.

Ricky staff 2018RICKY FEATHER – Counsellor

Ricky has a membership with DAPAANZ. Ricky recently commenced employment with St Marks when Ricky returned to Blenheim after a 4 year period in Western Australia, where he worked in mental health, Ricky is experienced in working with people with dual diagnosis and across multi-disciplinary teams. With over a decade of experience working with in community centred roles, Ricky brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to St Marks.

sandra staff profileSANDRA – Supervisor - Nights/Weekends

Sandie brings to her role many years of experience gained in the Mental Health, Disability & Intellectually Challenged sector. Working autonomously takes a certain personality and Sandie's passion and energy enables her to carry out this role with ease. She has a great rapport with the clients and staff.

Sandie is a passionate gardener and also enjoys walking and creating designs using driftwood.

hatareiHATAREI PEKA, Clinical Team Leader

Hatarei joined the St Marks family in 2014 relocating to Blenheim from Christchurch. He has had 20 years' experience working in a residential Therapeutic Community at Odyssey House Trust in Christchurch and is a graduate of this programme. He is passionate about working with the client's tangata whaiora, their families and significant others and we are privileged to have his expertise. Hatarei is a devoted father and "granddad" and enjoys family time whenever possible. He likes fast cars and is getting to know the Marlborough/Nelson region which gives him the pleasure of touring in his prized '97 Ford Fairmont V8.
