My name is Karen and I whakapapa (have lineage) to the areas of Ōtaki, Whanganui, and Dunedin.
I am a registered psychotherapist with several years’ experience in residential drug and alcohol treatment, community services, and private practice. I have always been interested in how people respond to their world and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside tangata whai ora (people seeking wellness) in their recovery journey.
My own journey toward wellness has included connecting to Māori culture and knowledge, and I am passionate about sharing this knowledge with others in service of building te whare tapa whā, the house with four walls – a holistic approach to health encompassing hinengaro (mental/emotional), tinana (physical), wairua (spiritual/sense of self), and whānau (family).
As a new import to Marlborough, I am excited to explore the region and meet the people. To relax I enjoy reading, waiata/singing, walking, and cuddling cats.
